Find Your Nighttime Formula
Not everyone is looking for the same thing from a nighttime CBD formula. Some people want something gentle to complement their evening routine. Others prefer higher-potency products or more substantial amounts of CBN.
We've organized our favorites into three categories to help you narrow down the options.
Does CBD Actually Help With Sleep?
CBD is widely used for sleep, but the clinical evidence is more complicated than the marketing suggests.
Human studies have produced mixed results, with some reporting improvements in certain measures of sleep and others finding little difference from placebo. Our research review examines the available human evidence, including what researchers have established and what remains uncertain.
Is THC Better Than CBD for Sleep?
THC can make people sleepy, but sedation does not always mean you're gettin better sleep. Research raises important questions about THC's effects on sleep architecture, tolerance, and sleep disruption during withdrawal. CBD has a different risk profile, although its benefits for sleep are not firmly established either.

What About CBN?
CBN has become one of the most popular cannabinoids in nighttime products, earning a reputation as the "sleep cannabinoid." But clinical evidence remains limited, and many products combine CBN with CBD, THC, or other ingredients. That makes it difficult to determine exactly how much CBN contributes on its own.
Our CBN Wiki explains what CBN is, where it comes from, and what the research actually tells us.
How Much CBD Should I Take for Sleep?
There isn't an established universal CBD dose for sleep. Individual responses vary considerably, and clinical studies have investigated a wide range of doses. Rather than guessing we recommend a systematic approach to finding a meaningful dose.
Our 1-2-3 Method explains how to you can find a meaningful dose for you.
Is CBD Safe to Use Every Night?
CBD is generally well tolerated, but that doesn't mean it's free of risks. CBD can interact with medications, produce adverse effects, and raise additional concerns for people with certain medical conditions. Our safety guide explains the most important considerations, including the distinction between using CBD for general wellness and using it to manage a medical condition.

Does CBD Need THC to Work?
No good evidence establishes that CBD or CBN requires THC to work.Cannabinoids can interact with one another, but the popular idea that trace amounts of THC are necessary to activate is really unfounded in the research.
THC-free formulas can still combine CBD, CBN, CBG, and other cannabinoids without relying on THC as an essential ingredient.
