Our newest addition to the catalog is an old local favorite that recently disappeared.

Dragon Balm has been a familiar name in the Boise CBD market for years. Canyon CBD in Nampa carried these formulas, but since they closed, Dragon Balm has become harder to find locally.

So we decided to bring them back.

Dragon Balm combines high menthol and camphor with nano-emulsified CBD to create an intensely cooling topical available as both a balm stick and lotion. These formulas have remained popular because the cooling sensation is immediate and unmistakable—and because many longtime users simply swear by them.

Nano CBD

The nano CBD makes the formulation particularly interesting. Nano-emulsification breaks CBD into extremely small droplets that can be dispersed throughout the formula. Users often report stronger effects from nano CBD topicals, and there are plausible reasons this manufacturing technique could influence cannabinoid delivery, but research into exactly how it affects CBD absorption is still developing.

Is Dragon Balm replacing Rocky Reserve?

For the moment, yes, though we are working on a new cooling balm to improve the Rocky Reserve formula. We brought Dragon Balm back as our primary cooling CBD topical because it offers a similarly strong menthol-and-camphor cooling profile in both balm and lotion formats.

What's the difference between Dragon Balm and Rocky Reserve?

Both formulas use menthol and camphor to create a pronounced cooling sensation. Rocky Reserve was a spreadable oil-and-wax salve made with our multi-cannabinoid house blend. Dragon Balm is available as a balm stick and lotion and uses nano-emulsified CBD, CBG and CBN.

If you liked Rocky Reserve primarily for its strong cooling sensation, I think you will really enjoy Dragon Balm or Lotion.

What is nano CBD?

Nano CBD generally refers to CBD that has been processed into very small droplets or particles and incorporated into an emulsion. This allows oil-soluble CBD to disperse more evenly in water-based formulations such as lotions.

Nano-emulsification is sometimes promoted as a way to improve cannabinoid delivery or bioavailability. While there is research supporting improved absorption from some nano-formulated cannabinoids, that doesn't mean every nano CBD product will deliver more CBD or greater effects.

Should I choose the Dragon Balm stick or lotion?

Choose based primarily on where and how you plan to use it.

The balm stick is concentrated, portable, and easy to apply directly to a smaller area without getting product on your hands. The lotion spreads more easily and is usually more convenient for larger areas.

Both provide the characteristic menthol-and-camphor cooling sensation associated with Dragon Balm.
